The Oregon State Chamber of Commerce creates a legislative scorecard following each legislative cycle based on legislator’s voting record on legislation affecting Oregon’s small businesses. Since 2015, these scorecards have not just revealed a snapshot of a session, but a trend that has led to an economy and quality of life that are slipping because elected leaders have not prioritized the health of small businesses across the state. The 2023-24 Legislative Scorecard is the latest marker in that trend.
Voting records are more than just numbers - they are a reflection of the values and priorities of our elected officials. These scorecards make one thing crystal clear: there are legislators who have not stepped up for small businesses. And if they don’t have their best interests in mind, they are also not supporting the backbone of our economy, our local communities, or the jobs these businesses provide.
