In January, a new legislative cycle will begin with a long session. For 160 days, elected leaders will convene in Salem and make decisions that will shape the course of Oregon’s future. And based on the previous cycle, small businesses are weary of what lies ahead.
Two hundred bills were introduced in 2023 that had an impact on business, of which 60 new laws passed impacting small business, and according to a report by the Secretary of State’s Office of Small Business Assistance, some of those created new penalties for businesses. On top of that, small businesses were met with lack of resources, communication and customer support from state agencies tasked with enforcing compliance.
Oregon needs to do better.
Small employers need to know that their leaders are invested in their success, not merely creating new rules and creating additional costs and additional administrative burdens.
Contributions to the Defend Small Business PAC go directly so supporting candidates who have - and will continue - to stand up for small business. It’s not too late to support our efforts, not just for this election, but for the continued work of changing the business and economic future of our state.
Stand with us.
